We are writing to inform you about a new European regulation that introduces additional obligations for merchants selling through online platforms, including you, as an eMAG Marketplace seller.
What’s changing, in short:
- Directive (EU) 2024/825 (“ECGT” – Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition) has been transposed into Hungarian law through the amendments of the Government Decree No. 45/2014 (II. 26.) and Act XLVII of 2008. The provisions on consumer information become applicable starting September 27, 2026.
- Before a consumer completes an order, the merchant must clearly display two types of information:
- Legal guarantee – mandatory for all products. It is displayed through a “harmonized notice”, a single model established by the EU, which cannot be modified.
- Commercial guarantee – applies only if the manufacturer offers it free of charge, for the entire product, for a period longer than 2 years. It is displayed through a “harmonized label,” with a standard EU format.
Both types of information must be visible before the order is placed, must contain a functional QR code, and must comply with the established format (color, size), with no changes to the content.
What this means for you:
- You will need to make sure your products meet these information requirements.
- You will need to send us the necessary documents and information (for example, if you offer a commercial guarantee, for which products and for what duration), so that we can jointly demonstrate compliance with the new obligations.
