The EAN code is the barcode attached to retail products or goods which offers specific information about them, by reading it using a special optical scanner to read it. The EAN code is unique for every product type. Not all the 13 digit codes are valid EAN codes. It is important to use EAN codes that have a GS1 license for your listed products because they are validated with GS1 standards. If you buy EAN codes from other sources than the GS1, you lose the uniqueness of information associated with them. For example: completing an unlicensed EAN code to your listed product will generate its rejection.
